I just saw the first showing at my local movie complex and let me say it was outstanding. Since Saw 3 I have always walked out the movie feeling satisfied but at the same time let down, let me tell you, this is not the case with Saw 6.

The story is compelling, original and really pulls you in for the whole ride. The traps are great, the gore is at the right level (not in your face, but enough to make anyone look away at times) and the writing and acting was the best I have since in a Saw film in a very long time. This is everything we wanted Saw 5 to be and more.

We were all let down by Saw 5 and believe me as a huge fan of the Saw series I was nervous going to see this, I knew if they did not pull it off the series would be as good as dead. However they did pull it off and how! I wont spoil anything but this film is a must see, definitely one of the best Saw's and an ending which will leave you satisfied. The twists don't match up to saw 1 or 2 but I don't think thats possible considering how much information and mini twists have been revealed since then.

While this is still a watchable, well acted movie that continues on the Saw tradition well I have to give it a lower rating because it just was not as good as the previous installments. The plot and the traps that we have come to be surprised by seemed to be a more predictable and rushed along by the makers of the movie. It seemed like this movie could have just been tossed in with part 4 to make one big movie as the prequel to the next part. So to me it seemed like the studio just split up 1 movie into 2 parts to capitalize on the profits....which they have done well I might add because myself and many other movie goers packed the theater for the 5th Saw installment. So in closing I think this movie may be adequate for the die hard saw fans, not nearly good enough for new comers, and winds up lacking far more than it gives. That is why I can only give this movie a 5 out of 10.

Despite what other people may say, I'm very glad that the Saw crew has decided to continue the Saw franchise. There were too many loose ends at the end of Saw III that needed tying up, and I believe that Saw IV accomplished this to the degree that it was supposed to. Sure; as a stand-alone movie, it's quite confusing. I would strongly recommend viewing the previous three before this one; otherwise, as aforementioned, you'll be lost throughout the movie. As expected, IV had all the down-right blood, gore and grisly traps that I've come to know and love from the series in addition to explaining a bit more about Jigsaw's past and the inner workings of his little 'set-up'. I understood that ALL of my questions wouldn't be answered; that's what Saws V and VI are for. But I was satisfied that some of the most important 'puzzles' had gotten a few more pieces by the completion of IV. All in all, I view the Saw franchise as a 'thinking man's horror' kind of series. If you can tie the four movies together in your mind, it makes a lot more sense and you can understand what's happening better. So, I'll give it a 10/10 for avid Saw fans like myself, and even a modest 7/10 for people that aren't too into it. Saw IV is definitely worth watching through, regardless of your stand.

The best things come in three's.

Saw 2 was perhaps the biggest surprise in the form of a horror sequel I have received for a long time. When I finished seeing Saw 2, I was so pumped for Saw 3 that I wasn't even going to pay attention to what my friends and critics alike had to say about this movie, which were all negative. Finally saw it, and it doesn't disappoint.

Saw 3 starts right off where the second one ended, and I wont tell you anything in case you haven't seen Saw 2, so go see it! Now, this Saw has two different parts that go back and forth one to the other. The part of Lynn, a doctor and also a wife who has neglected her husband and thus she is thrust into Jigsaw's newly incorporated "game", and the other part comes in the form of Jeff, a man driven by vengeance who must also go through a series of hellish tasks, in order to reach the man who killed his son, and kill him, if so he chooses. Now these two parts are so incredibly connected that I wont spoil a thing, because it is just a wonder to behold what happens at the end. This movie as well offers insight into the past two Saw movies, which was a welcome treat for the fans and it also explains a bit more about what happened after they ended. Also, we get to see Amanda's take on how she tortures people, which is just painful and at times, hard to watch.

Now the acting in this movie was as decent as Saw 2, which, like Saw 2, had some standouts. Angus Macfadyen was really incredible as Jeff, perhaps the best character since Cary Elwes in the first Saw. He was clearly the best acted character in the movie, followed by the obvious Tobin Bell who is just as intimidating and awesomely evil as he was in Saw 2. The others are the characters of Lynn and Amanda.

Now if I haven't praised the script enough, then I'll repeat myself, this script... is incredible! From the start to the bloody finish it keeps you on the edge of your seat, trying to figure what the hell is going to happen at the end, and you will never know until you finish seeing it, or if someone spoils it for you. Sure it starts a little slow, but it gets better, you just have to see it for yourself. Also for the gore and violence in this movie, they sure turn it up a notch, and it shows, very well done special effects, and some really painful sequences.

Few gripes with the movie: Although the script was incredible, it has some problems, like a slow beginning for example. The acting by the tortured people is just ridiculous, not by all of the them, but the majority. And it isn't better than the first Saw, its up there with Saw 2.

Bottom Line, even though it has its problems, it is a worthy sequel to Saw 1 and 2, and I am definitely going to go see Saw 4 which is coming very soon. But I wonder, will Bousman and crew keep the momentum going or is it all going downhill from there? We will just have to see. 7/10.

The original Saw was probably my most favorite recent "horror" movie, so naturally I was excited when the second one came out. I saw it its opening weekend in theaters, and **THIS WAS IN PREVIEWS, SO I Don't CONSIDER IT A SPOILER** I see a man strapped to a chair, with this "Man in the Iron Mask"-like thing on with all sorts of pretty nails poking toward his face. If you've seen the first one, you can expect what it does. A TV turns on, and there's the puppet thing, and that creepy voice. I'm like "Hell yes!" and it seemed like a great beginning, and it truly does have a great idea going for it, but unfortunately it seems like they got lost in the success of the original and the new bigger budget and lost something. It became the traditional horror movie, with your typical predictable characters, and the innovation and claustrophobic feel of the original was gone. It wasn't scary, but then again I didn't think the first one was to be honest, I think they're more of a mental experience than anything. The weird acid-trip like camera shake still occurs, though thankfully less frequently, and it is like a bigger budget Saw. Think Land of the Dead. Still a Romero movie, but it didn't feel like one as much. Same thing applies here. The ending is cool for most people, but I honestly saw it coming. It gets a bit muddled, and by the end of it you really don't remember much except the very beginning and end. It's fun, and it's an interesting piece of this new Saw series, but it just doesn't seem to live up to the original for me. You watch it yourself and give it a chance. I give it a 6 1/2.
