The best things come in three's.

Saw 2 was perhaps the biggest surprise in the form of a horror sequel I have received for a long time. When I finished seeing Saw 2, I was so pumped for Saw 3 that I wasn't even going to pay attention to what my friends and critics alike had to say about this movie, which were all negative. Finally saw it, and it doesn't disappoint.

Saw 3 starts right off where the second one ended, and I wont tell you anything in case you haven't seen Saw 2, so go see it! Now, this Saw has two different parts that go back and forth one to the other. The part of Lynn, a doctor and also a wife who has neglected her husband and thus she is thrust into Jigsaw's newly incorporated "game", and the other part comes in the form of Jeff, a man driven by vengeance who must also go through a series of hellish tasks, in order to reach the man who killed his son, and kill him, if so he chooses. Now these two parts are so incredibly connected that I wont spoil a thing, because it is just a wonder to behold what happens at the end. This movie as well offers insight into the past two Saw movies, which was a welcome treat for the fans and it also explains a bit more about what happened after they ended. Also, we get to see Amanda's take on how she tortures people, which is just painful and at times, hard to watch.

Now the acting in this movie was as decent as Saw 2, which, like Saw 2, had some standouts. Angus Macfadyen was really incredible as Jeff, perhaps the best character since Cary Elwes in the first Saw. He was clearly the best acted character in the movie, followed by the obvious Tobin Bell who is just as intimidating and awesomely evil as he was in Saw 2. The others are the characters of Lynn and Amanda.

Now if I haven't praised the script enough, then I'll repeat myself, this script... is incredible! From the start to the bloody finish it keeps you on the edge of your seat, trying to figure what the hell is going to happen at the end, and you will never know until you finish seeing it, or if someone spoils it for you. Sure it starts a little slow, but it gets better, you just have to see it for yourself. Also for the gore and violence in this movie, they sure turn it up a notch, and it shows, very well done special effects, and some really painful sequences.

Few gripes with the movie: Although the script was incredible, it has some problems, like a slow beginning for example. The acting by the tortured people is just ridiculous, not by all of the them, but the majority. And it isn't better than the first Saw, its up there with Saw 2.

Bottom Line, even though it has its problems, it is a worthy sequel to Saw 1 and 2, and I am definitely going to go see Saw 4 which is coming very soon. But I wonder, will Bousman and crew keep the momentum going or is it all going downhill from there? We will just have to see. 7/10.
